Student Rights
IT IS THE RIGHT OF THE STUDENT TO:
1. Know what services American Worldwide Academy offers to all students.
2. Have access, upon written request directed to the proper AWA officials, to a list of the types of records and student-related reports maintained on him or her by the respective offices and departments at AWA.
3. Know the policies and procedures in regard to the cost, enrollment, registration, and of any changes in the program.
4. Privacy of all records.
5. Have access to all AWA student service offices and their benefits.
6. Be fully informed of AWA refund and repayment policies.
Student Responsibilities
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY STUDENT TO:
1. Adopt personal values that will contribute to the goal of preparing the student for a successful, professional future.
2. Study, learn, and fulfill in a timely manner the requirements of the courses of study.
3. Maintain awareness of grades, course completions and grade point averages with an eye toward fulfillment of graduation requirements.
4. Know AWA's transfer of credit policies.
5. Be knowledgeable with respect to the contents of the AWA Catalog.
6. Perform the timely and proper completion of all coursework by the established deadlines and guarantee the accuracy of any information provided.
7. Fulfill all financial obligations by the established deadlines.
8. Notify the Registrar's Office of any change in address or phone numbers in order to ensure proper communication between AWA and the student.
AMERICAN WORLDWIDE ACADEMY (AWA) POLICES & PROCEDURES
(1) Tuition includes AWA books & AWA study guides (via email or AWA eCampus), grading, record services and graduation package. Printed AWA books & study materials are available for an additional fee.
(2) Students pay postage on materials sent to the school. The school pays postage on materials sent to students. There are no additional charges for taking courses online. There is an additional shipping/handle fee for the graduation package.
(3) AWA accepts all transfer credits, with a passing grade, from all secondary institutions accredited by an agency listed with the United States Department of Education. Foreign transfer credit(s) must come from a secondary school approved by a governmental department. Twenty-five (25%) percent of the program must be completed with AWA to graduate any of our programs.
(4) Students are responsible for fees incurred for requesting prior transcripts. A form is provided.
(5) After receipt of enrollment agreement and prior academic record, AWA will inform the student of the courses required for graduation.
(6) Materials are made available to the student immediately upon receipt and approval of enrollment agreement, previous transcripts (if applicable), and enrollment fee. Online students will receive access to AWA eCampus via e-mail, upon approval.
(7) In accordance with the Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1975, the academy will not release information concerning a student's specific academic records without the consent of the student. AWA will only validate that a student has, or has not, graduated if requested by an employer or post-secondary institution.
(8) It is suggested that students retain a photocopy of all lessons in case of loss during delivery. AWA will scan and upload all materials submitted, which will be available on each student’s personal profile on the AWA eCampus.
(9) All information is kept on the AWA secure online database. Every student may view and edit his or her personal information, refer friend/family, take courses, message school administration and teachers, print unofficial transcripts, request official transcripts, make payments, etc., 24/7.
(10) A diploma is awarded after all courses are completed and payment obligations are met.
(11) American Worldwide Academy makes no guarantee that its credits or diploma will automatically be accepted at any other institution. If the student has questions about credit transfer, he or she bears the responsibility of verifying credit transfer with receiving institution prior to enrolling with AWA. AWA will assist in explaining its program to any institution that requests such information.
(12) An overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.0, on a 4.0 scale, is required to graduate. The AWA grading scale is: 100%-90%= A (4.0), 89%-80%= B (3.0), 79%-70%= C (2.0), 69%-60%= D (1.0) and 59%-below= F (0). Passing grades are: A, B, C, and D. Failing grade is F.
(13) All students must be 16 years of age or older.
AMERICAN WORLDWIDE ACADEMY (AWA) TUITION PROTECTION AGREEMENT
(1) If enrollment cancellation is requested within five (5) days from midnight of the day on which the enrollment agreement is signed and submitted, a refund of all tuition payments will be reimbursed. Graduates cannot receive a refund.
(2) If enrollment cancellation is requested after five (5) days from midnight of the day on which the enrollment agreement is signed, all monies paid will be non-refundable, and all outstanding balances will not have to be paid.
(3) The enrollment fee of $50 is non-refundable.
(4) AWA does not have a stated payment plan. Rather, students will be informed of the total cost of the program, through graduation, and may make incremental payments of at least $50 per month to remain in active status. If a student does not make at least a $50 payment per month, and fails to notify AWA, he or she may be cancelled. Students are obligated to pay off their balance as soon as possible.
(5) The high school diploma program must be completed within three years (36 months) from the date of enrollment acceptance. Failure to graduate within 3 years will automatically result in a cancellation of the student and all payments will be forfeited.
(6) Program cost and fees cannot be refunded for not receiving the graduation package or educational materials. If, for any reason, the student does not receive the educational materials or the graduation package, he or she can simply contact American Worldwide Academy to resend any package at no additional cost.
(7) Tuition includes the graduation package. Meaning, upon graduation, each student will receive an authentic American Worldwide Academy high school diploma. Unofficial transcripts can be accessed on the student AWA eCampus. Official transcripts may be purchased for an additional fee.
Students must be at least 16 years of age to enroll.
